Images

I have been realizing more and more over the past month how much we as humans use images to associate things. We compare the birds we see with images in the bird book to identify them. The same thing with flowers. We rely on images stored in our minds to identify people that we know, or printed images hanging on the refrigerator to remind us of them. Cars, airplanes, tractors, trucks; we identify them by images we have remembered.

This morning I heard something from Ravi Zacharias that really challenged me. He was reading from Luke 20:21-25. "And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest fightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest us the way ot God truly: is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's and to God the things which be God's." Ravi went on to say that they should have not stopped their questioning. The next question should have been, "What belongs to God"? Jesus' answer would have been, "Whose image is on you"? Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." You belong to God.
