Working...

Life continues to stay busy here with me taking more of a front-line role in the aviation department. My co-worker is taking a personal development course right now, so I am working alone for the next few weeks. I completed a big project in August. The engine is back on the Luscombe and running strong!
Here is the Luscombe during the removal stage

My next project was to do a 100hr inspection on the Cheyenne. There were a few special things that needed to be done. The pictures will explain more.

The oxygen bottle sits down in that compartment. I had to remove 6 radios and the shelf to get to the bottle. The bottle needs to be hydrostatically tested every 5 years, so I removed it and sent it to the testing shop. Removing the bottle proved to be a help as you will see later.

The starter-generator needed to be changed on the left engine. It is mounted to the engine behind the big silver pipe.

This photo shows the wires that attach to the starter-generator.

Another big project was to replace all the seals and the fluid in the landing gear struts. Here the airplane is sitting up on jacks with both main gears removed.

Landing gear strut disassembled into its various parts.

The nose gear is proving itself to be a tough one. Remember the oxygen bottle that was taken out? It would have needed to come out to remove one of the bolts that attaches the landing gear to the airframe.

Where is the bolt for the other side? Way down behind that brown fiberglass shroud on the lower right. Which means...

...the heater and associated parts need to be removed. 3/4 of a days work to get to one bolt so I can remove it is not what I call making good progress.

Mixed in between the work, I have been enjoying life doing things like camping, fishing, volleyball, softball, singing, making new friends, and learning more about my Creator.

That's all for now.
